Established in 2005, Maui Prep Academy is an autonomous college prep school for non boarders in K-8 grades, and in 9-12 grades for both day and boarding students. Maui Preparatory's plantation-style school is located amid once pineapple plantation sites and superb Norfolk pines around 10 miles up the coast of Lahaina. Maui Preparatory Summer Academy is split into 2 three-week blocks. The majority of students in each block decide on one specific major (1.0 credit) and 2 focus minors (0.5 credits each). With the exclusion of SCUBA, all majors happen in the AM session every day, Monday to Saturday. Each of the minors happen in the PM session, with most happening on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while the rest happening Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
